Do you want to look like one of those runway models? Believe it or not, your physique has nothing to do with it. It is all in the styling sense. Of course, getting your hairstyle on point is a different thing. But this is about using those short-sleeved shirts in a button-down fashion.
Still, as a bonus tip – try using a t-shirt (solid colour) under an unbuttoned short-sleeved shirt. It looks great. With that being said, let’s look at a couple of button-down shirt styling tips:
1. Don’t Tuck Them In
You should never tuck your buttoned-down short-sleeved shirt inside the pants, jeans, or whatever it is that you are wearing. This only applies as long as you don’t have too long a cut for a short-sleeved shirt. This brings us to the next point – don’t have a long and buttoned men’s short sleeve shirts. They will never look good.
Another styling tip is for the sleeve of the shirt to be as long as half the length of the bicep. It will make you look fit and proportional. So, go for that. Keep these points in mind.
2. Unless You’re Going Denim
Of course, the only case where you’re going to tuck in your shirt is if you have a slim build, first of all. If you have a little tummy, try not to go for a tucked-in look for casual setups. On the other hand, if you’re wearing denim jeans, you can definitely tuck in your short-sleeved shirt.
But remember, that should be accompanied by a belt. A belt that looks great. For instance, let’s assume you have dark blue jeans and a sky blue short-sleeved shirt, make sure to have a brown belt and tuck down your shirt. Colour combination is vital to look good.
3. Cowboy Looks Great
Another case for you to tuck in your short-sleeved shirt is if you’re wearing a vest on top of it. Regardless of what people say, a short-sleeved buttoned-down shirt looks great with a vest. You could leave the vest unbuttoned or button it. Similarly, you can leave the shirt tucked or untucked. Both the options work great for the styling.
4. Shorts For The Summer Vibe
Now, on the other hand, if you’re wearing it for beachy or summer vibes, combine it with shorts. These shorts need to be something like cargo or denim shorts. Not the causal cotton shorts. They won’t look at good.
Another point to note is that if you have printed shirt, then go for solid-coloured shorts and vice versa. You can go the same color, or contrast your shorts. Both the options will look great.
5. The Shoe Department
Finally, short-shirts look great with sneakers. You can have different kinds of sneakers and never go wrong with the short shirts. If you want to wear boots with those cowboy styles, you can get that done. If you’re wearing vest for a formal setup with pants and short-sleeved shirt, then go with leather shoes. Shoes are important, of course.
