The pandemic has created stress and depression all around the world. It is an unlucky time for pregnant ladies due to increased stress. However, here are some tips to survive pregnancy and pandemic without stress while contemplating on ideas of how you can eat the food you have been dreaming about while being locked in during the entire period of the pandemic. .

Physically isolate but socialize

Socializing is a basic human need. It is also something that helps with the reduction of loneliness, anxiety, depression, and boredom. During this pandemic, we cannot physically be with our loved ones, but there are other ways to strengthen the connections.

One of the best ways is to switch to online communication. You can use Skype, FaceTime, and WhatsApp video calls to connect with your friends and family. Seeing the face of your loved ones can have calming effects on your mind. Another tip is to regularly text and talk with a supportive family member or friend. Use this time to uplift each other’s mood and share your concerns.

During this pandemic, the virtual social groups have become such a great trend. You can connect with people based on a hobby or activity that you enjoy. However, it is advisable to ignore the medical advice gained online because people are often paid to promote a drug or product. Do not use any product without knowing the detrimental effects of the drug.

Get Enough Sleep

Sleep is extremely important to combat stress during pregnancy. Sleep will reset the mind and body and improve the immune system. Overall, a good night sleep will improve your mental health which leads to a healthy pregnancy. Doctor’s advice is that pregnant women should sleep for at least seven to nine hours. In order to sleep peacefully, avoid taking caffeine at night and do not use your mobile phone before bed. Sleeping everyday at the same time will also help improve the sleep cycle.

Be Mindful

The pandemic has given pregnant ladies some extra stress. In order to let go of this stress, pregnant ladies should practice mindfulness. Daily practice breathing exercises such as meditation to give your mind and body some relaxation. Stretching and mindful movements will also be helpful. Walking, yoga, and exercise give you the energy you need and releases stress.

A simple breathing exercise for pregnant ladies is the “4-7-8” technique. Sit comfortably with a good posture and breathe in while counting to four. Hold your breath till seven and exhale to a count of eight.  Practice this regularly and feel the tension and stress leaving your body.

Mindfulness relieves depression, anxiety, and stress during pregnancy. Studies have also shown that mindfulness can have positive effects on the babies as well.

The pandemic is a difficult time for pregnant women especially those having high risk pregnancy. You have to reassure yourself that you are not alone. There are plenty of doctors and healthcare workers ready to get you out of stress. You can consult Dr Stephen Cole high risk pregnancy for women to stay healthy during these special nine months.
